Erice vetta

Erice is a small medieval town that, from 751 m above sea level, overlooks the whole province and has kept all its splendour and character over the centuries, with its narrow streets and its houses.

The Trapani-Erice cable car station is about 2.4 km from the property.

  • Erice's Chiesa Madre with its bell tower, under a blue sky
  • The road up to the Castello di Venere in Erice, with its crenellated tower

Inflatable boat trips to the islands, private or in a group, are available on request.

The coves of Zingaro, towards San Vito Lo Capo

The Zingaro nature reserve covers the coast between Scopello and San Vito Lo Capo.

There are no roads inside: the seven coves can be reached on foot, along the coastal path, or from the sea.

  • Cala Capreria, the first from the Scopello entrance
  • Cala Tonnarella dell'Uzzo, the first from the San Vito Lo Capo entrance

Further north, San Vito Lo Capo has a long beach of pale sand.

The Procession of the Mysteries

A centuries-old tradition, unique in the world, going back more than 400 years.

The Procession of the Mysteries is Trapani's signature event.

During Holy Week (from Good Friday to Holy Saturday), the city relives a tradition of devotion, art and music that lasts 24 hours without a break.

The 20 sculptural groups

Imposing 17th- and 18th-century sculptures of wood and canvas, adorned with flowers and gold, are carried in procession on the shoulders of the city's historic guilds.

A unique atmosphere

For 24 hours the old town is transformed by the sound of funeral marches, the scent of incense and thousands of candles lighting up the night.

Not to be missed

The moving departure from the Chiesa del Purgatorio (Good Friday, 14:00) and the evocative return on Holy Saturday.

Tip for your stay

Holy Week is one of the most popular times of the year.

Staying at Trapani d'Amare, you can reach the event easily and, on your return, count on the free public parking in front of the property.

Trapani coral

The ancient art of “Trapani red”

Trapani boasts a centuries-old tradition of coral working, which boomed between the 16th and 17th centuries.

Trapani's master coral carvers became famous throughout Europe for their sacred works and jewellery of extraordinary craftsmanship, made by combining coral with gold, silver and copper.

History

Local fishermen harvested coral from the banks off the coast, turning Trapani into the Mediterranean capital of coral art.

Not to be missed

A visit to the Museo Regionale Agostino Pepoli in Trapani, which holds one of the world's most important collections of coral masterpieces.
